New members welcome – lets try and make this one a little more fun and a little less business – bring a build or set to show off, bring some figs or spare parts to trade!

State of the LUG – 2023
Hi all – Happy New Year, and welcome to our new members! It’s been a minute since we had an update, so let’s talk about what we have coming up in 2023.
LUG Showcase
We will be at the Holiday Inn on March 31-April 1. Save the Dates!
If you are planning on having a table to display your LEGO Builds, we will be taking signups shortly. We’ve also had some interest from kids who’d like to display, so we will be discussing how that’s going to work.
Meetings
Meetings will continue – we want to try and have a meeting about once a month, so we will be scheduling something soon.
Build Challenges
We will also be bringing back monthly build challenges – if you have an idea for a theme, post in the comments!
Meeting – July 5, 7pm at the Geocentre
Drop by and hang out with your fellow LUG Members!
Agenda:
- Bring your latest build to show off!
- Discussing the Canadian LUG Project
- Blocks on the Rock ’22 planning!
Meeting January 7th, Upcoming Events
Hi all – I promised I’d be better at updating the site so our non FaceBook users get updated. It looks like I have at least one New Year’s resolution I am already “bending.”
There is a LUG meeting January 7th, 7pm at Bricks & Minifigures on Blackmarsh Road. Our agenda is:
- Christmas Update – what did you get?
- LUG Bulk Update
- BrickLink tutorial
Additionally, there are some upcoming events you should keep in mind:
- February 22nd 2020 is our Third Annual Showcase – this is when we show off all our builds for the year!
- March 5th is the next meeting after this one
- May 6th is our Annual General Meeting (AGM)- We will be electing Executive Officers for the next 2 years at this meeting.
If you want to be eligible to vote at the AGM , you need to have attended at least one other meeting or event since the last one (Exceptions can be made for active group members who are not local to the Northeast Avalon – talk to your executive!)
Members Christmas Social
NewfoundLUG will be having a Christmas Social for our members 7-9pm on December 17th, 2019 at Bricks & Minifigures on Blackmarsh Road.
Bring some snacks to share, a drink or two to have, and we’ll have a time.
If you are attending, please confirm with the Executive – we are planning on having some surprises for attending members and want to confirm the numbers. 🙂
New Site Feature – Calendar
If you are interested in what’s coming up with the group, you can now see all the upcoming events – just go to newfoundlug.ca/calendar
If you think there’s something that we should have on the event schedule, just reach out to an Executive member, or email us at newfoundlug@gmail.com and we will update it.
Meetings, Christmas Social and Fundraiser
Hey all – we have some upcoming things we need to schedule/discuss!
Christmas Social – We are going to have a small Christmas Social event this year, just a few pizzas and a few drinks – we’ll need to set a date for that, sometime in December. We will be drawing for some of our bigger sets that night!
Fundraiser – we have one of our activity Support sets flagged for a fundraiser draw for the LUG (specifically, it’s set 60228, Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control). I’d like to get started selling some tickets on that, as it would make a great Christmas gift!
Group Meeting: Thurs, Sept. 5th
Our next quarterly meeting is scheduled for 7pm-9 On Thursday, September 5th at Bricks and Minifigures.
Let’s aim for another low-key meeting. Bring something to show off, bring a build to work on.
Agenda:
-Build Night! Bring a set to assemble, or show off a new build!
-Geek-out at The Library Discussion
-Activity Support Sets update
-Stud.IO help with Steve – bring your laptops and I can talk about using Stud.IO!
Upcoming Event: August 1st, Builder’s Night
Never been to a meet-up before? Haven’t been to one in a while? New member wanting to meet other LEGO enthusiasts?
Come to our Builder’s night, 6:30-9pm on August 1st, in the Community Room in Sobeys on Merrymeeting Road!
We’ll be bringing in some sets and other stuff, and just talking LEGO – no business discussion allowed!
